Project Overview

I created an animated robotic dog using Adobe Animate. The character follows a blue and white color scheme to create a futuristic and friendly appearance. The goal of this project was to practice character construction, symbol management, layer organization, and animation techniques in Adobe Animate.

Design Concept

The robotic dog was designed as a smart companion robot. I chose blue and white as the primary colors because they are commonly associated with technology, intelligence, and cleanliness. The overall design combines mechanical elements with a cute and approachable appearance.

Steps

I first created the basic body structure using Adobe Animate's drawing tools such as the Oval Tool, Rectangle Tool, and Pen Tool. Different body parts including the head, ears, legs, tail, and body were separated into individual layers to prepare for animation.
Each movable body part was converted into a Movie Clip Symbol. This allowed the character to be animated efficiently while keeping the project organized.Examples of symbols created:Head,Ears. The project followed proper layer management practices. Every movable component was placed on its own named layer to make the animation process easier and more manageable. The robotic dog was animated using motion tweening techniques. A breathing animation was added by slightly scaling and moving the body repeatedly to simulate natural breathing. Additional subtle movements were added to make the character feel more alive.

Challenges Faced

One challenge was ensuring that all body parts moved smoothly without affecting other components. Proper symbol conversion and layer organization were important to achieve a clean animation workflow.

Another challenge was creating a breathing motion that looked natural rather than robotic. This was solved by adjusting the timing and easing of the animation.

Reflection

This exercise helped me improve my understanding of Adobe Animate's animation workflow, particularly in using Movie Clip Symbols and Motion Tweens. I also gained experience in organizing complex projects using layers and exporting interactive web-ready animations. Overall, the project strengthened both my technical skills and creative design abilities.
