Sonic Design

 Week 1

As the first class of the semester, our teacher began by introducing the overall course structure. They explained the concept of sound design, which gave me a clearer understanding of the skills we will develop and how they can be applied in practice. To make the idea more tangible, the teacher also played a series of audio clips, allowing us to better grasp what the course entails.Looking ahead, Adobe Audition will serve as our primary software tool in the coming semesters, guiding us in exploring and mastering the art of sound design.

In this class, the teacher first let us listen to many different sounds and asked us to discern the differences. Then, we were instructed to use the software Adobe Audition to import the examples provided by the teacher, and afterwards, to modify the parameters of the equalizer.Make your voice as similar as possible to the example given by the teacher.

Below is a screenshot of the content I have modified using the knowledge I have learned.

Week 3
In this class, the teacher gave us six different venue scenarios and an audio clip, asking us to process the audio clip so that it sounded as if it were being played in each of the six venues. At first, the teacher guided us through three examples, explaining the specific methods of operation. Afterwards, he had us try the remaining parts on our own, and after we finished, he listened to the modified audio one by one and provided improvement suggestions for each person's work.

Week 4
Enter the cave

You can hear the sounds of some animals, the whooshing of the wind, and the friction sound created by the wind as you are about to enter the tunnel.

Come out of the cave

You can hear the sound of flowing water, the flapping of bats startled into flight, and the whooshing sound of wind caused by exiting the cave.

In today’s class, the teacher first asked us to analyze a sound and modify it, introducing some new concepts along the way. Afterwards, we were given two pictures and tasked with finding similar sounds on a designated website. We then adjusted these sounds to match the atmosphere of the pictures, so that listeners could imagine themselves in the depicted environments just by hearing the sounds.
Here the website link
Here the two photos
For the first picture, I found two audio tracks, one with the sounds of a forest and the other with the sounds of machines and computers, and made slight modifications to them.

For the second picture, I found an audio of mechanical work and made slight modifications to make it more fitting.
